September 4th: The Rose and Crown

[Veronica Glarette]

"Are you able to do zat? If so...zat may help tremendously." She felt a bit hopeful. If this really were possible and she could learn to control and expand on her power, she felt she'd truly be able to live. Not hide.

[Ryan Gabriel]

"I know a few psychics, yes," he said, reassuringly. "Just promise that you forgive me if there's any nastiness I forget about."

[Veronica Glarette]

"Zere would be no need to forgive you, as you would not be in zee wrong."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Well, it'd be my carelessness," he pointed out. "Just because I've seen messed up things doesn't mean you have to."

[Veronica Glarette]

"I trust zat you would not be careless." She states plainly, honestly. "When I trained myself wis objects, it was easy. Took time, but overall it was not difficult. I sink zis will take more time and will be more difficult. You are sure?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan gave her a flat look, then held his hand out at her. He didn't really expect her to take it, but the point was clear enough.

[Veronica Glarette]

She hesitated. "You want to start now?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Well, I figured we'd wait until we were home and more comfortable, but you seem to need me to prove that I'm serious here," Ryan said. Still, he shifted so he was offering his arm instead as they continued.

[Veronica Glarette]

"I understand. I only ask if you are sure because it almost feels as if I'd be more using you zan anysing. And zat is somesing I would never be okay wis." As he offers his arm, she smiles softly and loops her own in his.

[Ryan Gabriel]

"You'd be using me if you were taking advantage of me," he said. "I know exactly what I'm getting into, and I'm the one offering. So don't worry." He chuckled a bit. "If anything, I just need to worry that you won't like what you find out about me."

[Veronica Glarette]

"Everyone has zere demons. I do not sink you should worry." She gives him a reassuring smile.

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Me? Demons? Nah, I scare those all off," Ryan half-joked.

[Veronica Glarette]

She actually manages a laugh. "Or let zem tie you to a bed, non?" She made the playful jab, hoping to make light of the memory.

[Ryan Gabriel]

He did a double take at her on that one. Ouch. Nice. "Well, they don't have a monopoly on that one," he countered, smirking back at her.

[Veronica Glarette]

"Mm, I see, I see." She just shakes her head with a bit of a smirk. "I did have a question concerning what I saw, if you do not mind me asking?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Yeah... I figured you might," he admitted. "Go ahead."

[Veronica Glarette]

"What was zat sing zey placed around your neck?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

He made a face. "Power inhibitor. Nasty little thing that shuts your powers off. I was pretty sure I could get out of whatever was going on, but then they threw that in, and... well, you saw it."

[Veronica Glarette]

"Zat would make sings difficult. I am surprised you did not have anysing like a hidden dagger or somesing zat would have helped. Isn't zat zee way sings are done in zee movies?" She jokes.

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Well, the 'hidden dagger' bit doesn't really work after the whole 'she gets you out of your clothes.' I mean, I don't know where you think I might have been able to hide one, but... well, actually I just don't WANT to know."

[Veronica Glarette]

She pauses for a moment and thinks. Don't think about it. Just pretend you didn't see him naked. Just don't think about it. Ignore it, Veronica. Ignore it. It wasn't working. Her face flushed bright red and she tried to play it off with a laugh at his joke. Her face was probably as red as a cherry at that point and she looked away. "Y-Yes, zis is true. Not...not sure what I was sinking." Don't think about it don't think about it don't think about it. Shut down your mind. Don't. Think.

[Ryan Gabriel]

He glances over at her. "Something wrong?" he asked, 'innocently'.

[Veronica Glarette]

"N-non, not at all. Just...wow it is a beautiful day, non?" Not so smoothly trying to smoothly change the subject. Oh dear.

[Ryan Gabriel]

"It is," he admitted. "Might go for a swim when we get back. Gotta get that out of the way before it really gets too cold."

[Veronica Glarette]

"....." Focus, Veronica. She blinks a few times, her cheeks still bright red. "Oh, you swim?" Her voice was a bit meek at this point. FOCUS. NORMAL CONVERSATION. "At zee shore? Or zee pool in zee complex?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Usually the pool, but like you said, it's a nice day out. Might as well spend it outside, right?"

[Veronica Glarette]

Just relax. Focus. "I agree. Enjoy it while it lasts." She nods, taking a deep breath. There you go. "And what about your friendly fish people? Would zey not be against you swimming around zere?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

He shrugged. "They're going to come up again looking for me. I might as well make it on my terms."

[Veronica Glarette]

"You are very sure off yourself." She says playfully.

[Ryan Gabriel]

"There's not much alternative," he admitted. "They're going to come. Either I'll beat them, or they'll beat me. I can't afford to dwell too much on that second one."

[Veronica Glarette]

"Well let's hope zee former is zee outcome. Considering you defeated zere priest...tentacle-tees being, I would assume zat zee worst is over."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Well, now that you've said it, the universe will prove us wrong," he warned with a smile.

[Veronica Glarette]

"Gives you a challenge." She nod-nods. "Wouldn't want sings to be too easy."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"The best things take some work," he agreed. "Well, when you do them right, at least."

"Which I guess is also just cheesy justification for everything being rough around here. But it still fits!"

[Veronica Glarette]

"Whatever works." She chuckles. "In zee end when sings are finished, it makes it wors zat much more, non?"
