Sept. 5th: The Night People

[Winifred Winters]

"That's cool," Winn says, sitting down across from Veronica. "I'm not bugged."

[Veronica Glarette]

Veronica looks relieved. "Alright." She gives a smile and takes a drink. "Do you mind eef I ask...when it was you found out about...well..." She doesn't quite know how to put it.

[Winifred Winters]

Winn cocks her head, looking confused, "....About?"

[Veronica Glarette]

"Erm..." Wow this is awkward. "When your powers first started manifesting."

[Winifred Winters]

"Oh. That," Winn says. "About a year ago."

[Veronica Glarette]

"How...how did your parents react? Erm..." She stops. "My apologies, I should not be asking such questions."

[Winifred Winters]

Winn rolls her eyes, "I don't care. God, Ronnie. I'm not that sensitive."

"I don't have a dad. And my mom's a mutant so she doesn't give a shit," Winn says. "What about you?"

[Veronica Glarette]

She tilts her head. "Ronnie?"

[Winifred Winters]

"Veronica, Ronnie," Winn says. "Wouldya prefer Ron? Vee?"

[Veronica Glarette]

"I haf met someone else in school wis zee same name who calls herself Ronnie. I would hate to take eet." She chuckles. "But you can call me whatever you like. Whatever makes you happy." She smiles.

[Winifred Winters]

"'Hotpants' it is," Winn teases.

[Veronica Glarette]

"H-hotpants?" Veronica asks while blinking a bit. "Er..."

[Winifred Winters]

"I'm kidding, yeesh," Winn says, sipping her beer. "You're very easy to fluster."

[Veronica Glarette]

"Well, you haf to understand, I come from...from a very serious household. Getting used to all off zis relaxation and jokes is difficult to get used to."

[Winifred Winters]

"Must've been a pretty serious house," Winn says. "What was it like?"

[Veronica Glarette]

"Erm..." Veronica thinks for a few moments. "Strict. Very...strict."

[Winifred Winters]

"Well, that doesn't sound promising."

[Veronica Glarette]

"Non. However, I know zat sings can always be worse. No need to dwell on eet." She says with a small smile.

[Winifred Winters]

"Oh come on, I've been venting all night," Winn says. "Let off some steam. I don't mind."

[Veronica Glarette]

"E-em...eet really isn't necessary. No need to dwell on such sings, non?" Veronica says. She takes a larger drink from her ale.

[Winifred Winters]

"Well, tell me something about you," Winn says. "I mean, for frick's sake, the one good thing about dying is that I can keep secrets."

[Veronica Glarette]

"Well, you know I play piano. Hm..." She snaps her fingers. "When I was eleven, zere was a fire at my piano recital and I was never more glad for eet to happen." Apparently she thinks this secret is good enough.

[Winifred Winters]

"Why?" Winn asks. "Do you hate playing the piano or something?"

[Veronica Glarette]

"Non! Not at all. Eet was just a very, very nervous setting. Every move and every note being watched and listened to. Any mistakes were scrutinized heavily."

[Winifred Winters]

"Who gives a rats ass?" Winn says. "Not like it matters if you fuck up or anything."

[Veronica Glarette]

"Er...right." She said. No, it mattered. "Just a silly recital." Veronica says with a smile.
