Sept. 11th: Ummm...That's a Lot of Liquor

[Nina Madaraki]

"Sure," Nina says. "I'll bet it'll be neat."

[Anika Sloan]

"I'll have to try to get the hook up at one of the less...violent places. I don't need to go worrying about something going wrong. What days are you free?"

[Nina Madaraki]

"All of them," Nina says.

[Anika Sloan]

"Perfect. You have a cell?"

[Nina Madaraki]

"I think so," Nina says, searching her pockets. "Ha! I was right."

[Anika Sloan]

Anika pulls out her own phone and stands, ready to tap in the number. "I can either text you or give you a call. Whichever you prefer. I gotta go for a smoke or I'm gonna lose it. You a smoker?"

[Nina Madaraki]

"Either one is fine," Nina says, pulling up her number and showing it to Anika. "I'm capable of smoking."

[Anika Sloan]

"Odd way of putting it, and judging from how you've spoke so far, I'm willing to bet you're thinking literally." Anika remarks as she punches in Nina's number. After that, she hops up and pulls out her pack of cigarettes, offering one to Nina.

[Nina Madaraki]

Nina takes one, "I only smoke when it's socially acceptable. Or when I'm on fire."

[Anika Sloan]

"Well, let's hope you don't catch on fire. Kinda bad for you." She says with a wink, heading outside.

[Nina Madaraki]

"It is unpleasant," Nina agrees.

[Anika Sloan]

Once they are outside, Anika puts her finger to her cigarette, lighting it first, then does the same for Nina's. "So you're just kind of at a stand still right now then?" She asks, referring to Nina's plans.

[Nina Madaraki]

Nina laughs, "Oh gosh no."

"I have a lot of plans."

She awkwardly smokes the cigarette. It's clear that she rarely smokes.

[Anika Sloan]

"You gonna do the schooling shit?"

[Nina Madaraki]

Nina laughs, "No. I'm terrible at all that."

"I'm probably just gonna do research."

[Anika Sloan]

"On what?"

[Nina Madaraki]

"Whatever I feel like," Nina says.

[Anika Sloan]

"You don't have like...some sort of favorite topic or anything? Most people have a focus from what I understand."

[Nina Madaraki]

"Well, I mean, immortality is kind of my end goal," Nina says. "But I also do all sorts of other fun stuff."

[Anika Sloan]

"Immortality. That's a big end goal. What makes you want to live forever?"

[Nina Madaraki]

"The biological imperative of a working survival instinct," Nina says.

[Anika Sloan]

"Yeah but I mean, would you really want to be around forever to see all the bad crap that happens?"

[Nina Madaraki]

"Yes," Nina says. "Bad stuff, good stuff. As long as it's interesting, I don't care."

[Anika Sloan]

"So, a true intellect without biases."

[Nina Madaraki]

"Well, I like to experiment without any preconceptions holding me back," Nina says.

[Anika Sloan]

Anika takes a drag from her cigarette. "Neat. Figured with your power you'd wanna work at a hospital or something."

[Nina Madaraki]

Nina rolls her eyes, "No. I used to but..."

"Things happened."

[Anika Sloan]

"Bad things, I assume." Anika says without prying.

[Nina Madaraki]

"Oh, yeah. Quite a few of them!" Nina says. She laughs, "It was terrifying."

[Anika Sloan]

Anika looks a bit confused at the fact Nina is laughing about it, then shrugs. "I suppose looking back and laughing about it is a good way to deal with it, yeah?"

[Nina Madaraki]

"No, I just have inappropriate emotional reactions," Nina says. "It's a problem sometimes."

[Anika Sloan]

"Oh, well shit. So do I. Not a big deal. Everyone deals with things differently."

[Nina Madaraki]

"I guess that's true," Nina smiles. "Thanks."

"It's too bad that I'm trying to avoid unnecessary complications in my life at this point in time. Your kind personality and physically attractive features would make you an ideal non-reproductive sexual partner."

Nina is terrible at compliments.

[Anika Sloan]

She bursts out laughing. "You...you think I'm kind? Oh hell...that's no good at all." Anika does, however, pick up that it's a compliment. "Thanks though. I hear you on the complications part. I find that serious relationships aren't worth it. Best to just go out and have fun."

[Nina Madaraki]

"It is preferable," Nina agrees.

[Anika Sloan]

She finishes her cigarette, and turns to Nina. "Well, you said before you have trouble making friends, and that's why you're here to drink. Seems you made one regardless."

[Nina Madaraki]

"A happy accident," Nina says.

[Anika Sloan]

"That's about right." Anika says with a nod.
