"I've been doing things wrong since my powers emerged. If only I would listen to her, everything would go much more smoothly."

[Altamira Vazquez]

"Then you should listen to her!" Mira said, missing the sarcasm.

[Melissa Castro]

"I was being sarcastic," she said. "My powers don't work the way her powers do and I feel like I've been trying to make up for that all my life."

[Altamira Vazquez]

"And she doesn't understand how they are different? Or do you not understand how hers work?"

[Melissa Castro]

Melissa considered that for a long moment. "I think it's because I didn't turn out to be her complete and total spitting image that bugs her. Though I'm really not sure why that would bug her so much."

[Altamira Vazquez]

"Some people do not want offspring, they want clones," she said, nodding. "Differences often highlight things they wish they could control in themselves."

[Melissa Castro]

"She was... is... always telling me that if I just tried harder with my telekinesis, it would 'work properly'."

[Altamira Vazquez]

"She means like hers, yes?"

[Melissa Castro]

Melissa nodded, "Pretty much."

[Altamira Vazquez]

"How does YOURS work?"

[Melissa Castro]

"Reinforces my body and can make me super strong. Also shuts off my telepathy, which is kind of strange."

[Altamira Vazquez]

"Oh?" she said, raising an eyebrow. "Let me guess: that's what your mother has an issue with?"

[Melissa Castro]

"It's possible. She did stress telepathy more than telekinesis when I was growing up."

[Altamira Vazquez]

"And yours just goes away when you use your telekenesis, does it? It almost sounds like there's a block in place. I could..." she said, and then paused.

"Maybe it's just using the same proverbial muscle, as it were."

[Melissa Castro]

"It's possible I guess. I've been trying to turn them on at the same time, but it only lasts a second and then one or the other takes dominance." She regarded Altamira, "You were about to say something else. What was it?"

[Altamira Vazquez]

"Nothing, nothing at all..." she said, looking down. "I just was trying to think of a way to help."

[Melissa Castro]

"I wouldn't dream of asking the Phoenix to waste any of her considerable power on me," Melissa said with a smile. "Just talking has been helpful."

[Altamira Vazquez]

"I can do that. If there's anything normal I can do to help you work it out, I'm always around."

[Melissa Castro]

"Good to know. I'm still waiting on the results of tests that they were doing on me. Something's changing and they're trying to figure out what. I'm healing faster sometimes, which is a good change, but any time a mutation changes, you have to be careful, I guess."

[Altamira Vazquez]

"You never know what will happen. But I'm sure it won't be too disastrous!"

[Melissa Castro]

"Hopefully I'll hear soon and I try not to worry about it in the mean time."

[Altamira Vazquez]

"Don't worry. I'm sure you will be fine."
