"That's not really a question," Miranda says, moving past them towards the man. "Sir, are you alright?" Stupid question, sure, but it was a place to start.

The man turns his head and seems to have trouble focusing his eyes for a moment.

"Juss fine... Arms are itchy..." he mumbles, scratching at his forearm.

"May I look at them?" She asks, moving closer, trying to look non-threatening.

"Hey! Mind yer own business!" he mumbles, briefly looking up at Miranda, then back down at his arms. They seem to be growing pale to the point of his skin becoming translucent, briefly showing faint impressions of veins, muscles and tendons. He looks at them curiously, flexing his arm which suddenly fades away completely, leaving behind a weird shimmer in the air in the outline of his hands and lower arms. He starts to snicker to himself which grows into a nervous laugh.

"I'm sure it will be fine, sir, I just want to make sure you're okay," she says, prodding around the free-floating thoughts to get a sense of what's going on in his head.

The man's thoughts are kind of frantic, torn between an exhilaration that doesn't feel quite natural and a deeply buried fear, both of which serve to get his adrenaline pumping.

"Where are my hands? What did you do to my hands!?"

"He said it was safe!" he says, raising his hands to his face and looking through the faint shimmer. Miranda doesn't seem to manage much of a dent in the man's fear and he shoves her away. Where his invisible hands touch her shoulder a faint tingle shoots through her.

Miranda's senses record the tingling sensation as she takes several steps back under the force of the shove. "Your hands are still there. You just shoved me," she says reasonably. "Whatever he gave you is doing this and we should get you some help."

"No! I don't need your help!" he says, taking a couple steps away, his eyes kind of aimlessly flitting about. "I just... gotta get a grip!" he yells and punches the wall of the warehouse. His hand goes right through the wall and he looks at it with a mix of frustration and anger for a second or two before the wall suddenly explodes inwards, bricks turning into dust and leaving behind a hole several feet across. The man looks at it and starts to laugh again.

Miranda's mind races, trying to analyze the situation. She manages enough presence of mind to think to Zephyr, "In over our heads. Time to run." Her stance indicates no intention of immediately running though. She shoves one hand down into a pocket, her fingers working her phone as she sends a message to the emergency number at the school.

Code: Select all: trouble at dockside in maldon. unknown individual with destructive power. need x response.

"Yeah. Yeah," she says, trying to hold her voice steady. "Getting a grip would be good. Wouldn't want anymore stuff down here to end up like that wall, right?" She tries to focus her thoughts, concentrating on not getting touched again.

Zephyr jerks her head at Char and slowly backs away. Char doesn't look too happy with that decision though. "This is our town and we're letting assholes walk all over it today!" she complains.

"We'll fix things, but we'll pick our battles. Don't want us ending up like that wall." Miranda thought to them, an edge of steel in her thoughts. She took a step or two back, keeping her vision focused on the man with the invisible hands.

"Do I look like I'm running?" Miranda said, holding her hands out placatingly. She spared some of her vision to see if Char and Zephyr were on their way.

"Come on, what are you waiting for, Miranda?" Zephyr shouts back at her.

About that time, there's a rumble of thunder from the direction of the school. "That," Miranda says, turning and moving to follow them at some speed.

Theresa flew in, hovering over the docks as she scanned the area for the threat the school had been alerted to. "Tempest on scene, no sign of individual yet. No sign of Miranda either. I do see a destroyed section of warehouse wall." she said, reaching up to adjust her radio a little so that it sat better in her ear.

"Affirmative." ASHLIE's voice responds. "No police response that would indicate any immediate illegal activity yet." she adds and as if to undermine her point a building maybe two-hundred feet away from the one with the hole in it suddenly blows out all it's windows, showering the street with broken glass.

Nick, out for a ride when he received the alert, swerved towards the sound of the exploding windows and gunned the engine.

"Vandal here. I'll try to get ahead of them at street level," he radioed.

"Yeah, that'll get police attention," she says after the explosion goes off. "ASHLIE, contact legal and tell them to start interfacing with the police." She descends towards the building with the shattered windows, trying to get a better look.

The place looks like a small office building for the harbor. As Theresa and Nick approach people start running from the doors. Most of them look fine, aside from the occasional cut or bruise.

Inside a man with no arms is rampaging through an office space. He seems to be punching a monitor, though his non-existent hand just seems to pass through it. A second later the monitor is launched up at an angle and embedding itself in the ceiling as a chunk of deformed glass and plastic. He doesn't seem to notice the two X-Men.

Then, he whistled loudly between two fingers to get the No-Arms' attention. "Hey you! Ass-face!"

The man spins around and glares at Nick. Veins are bulging on his head and neck and he seems enraged past the point of being reasoned with, so taunting him works fairly well. He tries to pick up a big printer to throw at him but his hands just go through it. The printer then explodes into roughly in Nick's direction while the man runs at him as well.

A thunderbolt drops out of the clear sky, trying to strike the printer and divert it or destroy it as Theresa maneuvers to find a better position to work from. "I'm gonna say 'don't let him touch you' is probably a good idea," she said as her eyes flared to green to analyze the air movement patterns finding instabilities to use.

Like a bullfighter, Nick floated sideways just in time to avoid the printer and then No-Arms.

"You should probably get those veins looked at."

"Don't tell me what to you!" the man howls and comes to a halt after the printer gets struck by a lightning-bolt and Nick swerves to the side. He swings his arms together in front of himself and presumably claps his hands. It's hard to tell what exactly he's doing, but what it does is to cause a big explosion of force towards Nick.

"Buy me some time," Theresa says into the radio as her eyes dart all over the area, starting to pull various small atmospheric instabilities into a configuration around the man.

Nick was knocked across the street and through a storefront window. He flew back out, throwing a teek wave at the guy.

The man has little in the way of combat experience, but apparently putting up his arms at least works somewhat, absorbing a lot of the telekinetic energy Nick hurls at him, only shoving him backwards a couple of feet. In response he throws a punch in Nick's direction, which makes the air explode into a blast again. Apparently he has figured out how to do what his arms do to object to the air as well. What he hasn't noticed is that with every use of his power more of his arms seems to disappear and that his skin has some noticeable patches where it seems to have simply dissolved away.

Theresa dipped a bit as the wind around the man began to whip up into a tight spiral, trying to pick him up and spin him around. "ASHLIE, whatever's going on, it's getting worse," she said through gritted teeth. "May want to alert medical resources."
