"You heard that thing he said about the 'Choral of the depths'? Well, I've been stupidly thinking that they thought I stole something physical. And... well, it might be easier if I just show you the memory. It was all disorienting for me. I kind of came out of a daze not knowing what had happened, but I remember a light, like they said, and reaching for it."

"After that, I don't know what the hell happened. But I think I need to."

He nodded. "Ready as I ever am."

He focused, thinking of the fight on the beach with the transformed priest. The way he'd somehow been sucked into it, until he'd reached for the light he saw, only to come out of his daze amidst the ichor of the priest's remains.

Melissa closed her eyes and chased the memory that Ryan had tried to drag to the surface, hunting for missing pieces.

It's not so much that there's something missing but rather an increasingly loud mental droning as Melissa focuses on the stretch of memories. A sound like someone had turned her head into a huge brass bell that continuously rings is emanating from everywhere at once and threatens to drone out her thoughts like they're drowning out Ryan's stretch of memories.

Melissa reinforced her own avatar, shielding her thoughts as much as she could, trying to find a source for the droning noise.

The sound isn't necessarily malicious and she manages to brace herself against it long enough to get a glimpse of shimmering and glowing words in a bright void. The closer she gets and the longer she tries to look at it though the more the sheer weight of it pushes against her mental barriers and threatens to overwhelm her.

Melissa holds on as long as she can, then she shuts her power off in the quickest way possible. In the real world, her skin shimmers as her telekinesis turns on, shutting her telepathy down. She shakes her head, trying to clear the droning out of it.

Melissa mumbled something that sounded suspiciously like Spanish swear words. "No, I'm alright. I've never seen a construct like that before. I'm not even sure it is a construct."

"Constr- there's something in my head?" Ryan exclaimed, though the more he thought about it, the more it didn't surprise him. He'd seen that light inside the priest, somehow, after all.

Frowning, he closed his eyes and started to glow as he did something he... well, never really had any reason to do. He focused his powers inside himself, searching and reaching like he did when he was trying to study someone.

He doesn't quite manage to see as much (or what little) detail Melissa had but he does get an impression of the construct. It's almost blinding in it's intensity. If he'd ever used his new sense to take a look at Altamira then this would feel very similar, if admittedly smaller in scope and more bright than burning.

What the... oh god... "I... oh god. There it is, I can't believe it. It's like having something written on your forehead and not knowing that you need to look in the mirror."

Swallowing, and looking strangely nervous, he reached inside himself. He focused his power to touch that... construct.

For a moment the light seems like it'd just overwhelm him but suddenly it gives away, seeming to focus Ryan's senses onto Melissa and the two Lemurians nearby. He can sense the water flowing to their gills, the heart pumping inside Melissa's chest and the sudden and disturbing realization that if he reached out with his power just right it would be simple to sap that lifeforce away.

Ryan staggered at the force of it, then... it's... so clear... It was something he'd always assumed he could do. He'd drawn life in and pushed it back before. But now, it was just so clear. So obvious. So... natural. What's going on... what is this?!

Vivienne noted the distress on Ryan's face and took a step closer to Melissa. She changed the positions of her hands on Caledfwlch's hilt as she watched Ryan carefully.

"Yeah, I am," he said, blinking as he straightened up again. "That was just a... rush at first. Whatever this is, it interacts with my powers. I've never felt them that strong."
