The site of the recently restored Braddock Lighthouse. Aircraft hangars and other X-Men facilities, including a Cerebra unit and the Danger Room have been constructed around the foundations of the lighthouse.
Elena leaned back in a beach chair, looking out over the ocean as she tugged at the long glove from her training outfit. Several buoys of varying sizes floated out in the water at different distances.
She pulled a soda out of the cooler and tossed it to him, "Absolutely lovely. Best city in the world. And the food..." She smiled and popped open her own soda. "What's Hawaii like?"
"Okay!" he answered, putting down his drink and getting up. He rubbed his hands together and breathed out before taking aim with one arm. Electricity arced from spots on his forearm into his hand, and he fired off a wild bolt. He managed to just barely wing it.
He heard her footsteps in the sand and then her voice came not to far from his right ear. "How do you draw on the electricity? What does it feel like to draw it up?"
"Okay, try it again. This time, plant your feet. Feel the shout, but draw it up from your toes, up through your body, and down your arm. See if you can focus that shout down into a whisper."
Jason nodded, opened his eyes, and tried the new stance. He aimed and charged up. A few arcs along the way singed his clothes, but the result was a much straighter shot and a powerful direct hit.
Elena nodded, "Good. Good. That's the sort of thing we'll be working on. Figuring out how you draw it out will help you figure out how to control it if it starts to get out of control."
"My abilities are not quite the same as yours, so we will have to be flexible to find out what works for you. I will try not to step on Ryan and his class, but let me know if there is something you want to work on specifically."
Elena looked thoughtful and tapped her chin, "That may settle as your control improves, but I will attempt to think of some exercises to help with that."
"Given where you are from, I most certainly understand that. You can look me up in the university student list and my e-mail address is in there. Feel free to e-mail me if you have questions or want to talk."
