I12DT - Getting under her skin

[Victoria Valentine]

"SHit!" Victoria said through gritted teeth, rather alarmed at what she was seeing. Not seeing any other course at the moment, she bent her will to the spell, fighting back against it. Mistress, I'm glad you taught me well...

Meanwhile her avatar began changing the song of her spell.
"Twisted lies and hidden paths,
Winding through the night,
Take two steps and let the webs
Alight before our sight!"

The inaudible spell pulsed out to trace the magical bonds of the creature, infusing a portion of magic through them so that she could hopefully trace it to its masters or minions. Or, even, victims.

One of it's victim's was clearly the faceless woman lieing on the hospital bed. Depending on how closely she traces those webs she'd find the echoes of dozens, hundreds if not thousands of victims throughout the eons. It is old. Very old. It doesn't really seem to have any minions, but Victoria would find the ancient pacts extending around the page of the Darkhold. Most of it is much too old, it's current holder is there. It's hard to get a good look as Prosopon's powers are hiding her but she's not too far... South... near the sea... Maldon... It's Melpomene's avatar, holding a dagger in one hand and a page of the Darkhold in the other. Wrapped all around her is one of Prosopon's masks. The face of a much younger blonde woman that Victoria's probably seen around the school plenty of times.

[Victoria Valentine]

"Oh you bitch..." Victoria drove both spells, pushing them together to try to pour her will down the line... not that she expected it to be super effective, but because she just wanted to give the bitch a good slap.

[Melpomene]

Mel isn't exactly a spirit, but if she'd previously been unaware of what was going on at Muir she certainly notices now. Looking around it takes her a bit to sense where that came from, but when she notices Victoria she seems surprised to say the least before stepping back and disappearing into the shrouds.

[Samantha McManus]

Though she had no chance of physically getting back the bit that had been swallowed, she tried to pull the tattered shred of her consciousness that remained in it back, shaping it into a mental dagger to hopefully make it hurt.

[Prosopon]

She'd feel the piece being pulled back towards her, almost as if she was pulling it back into reality again. Prosopon screams out and rises up until it's head is close to the ceiling and strikes at Sam with it's clawed hands.

[Victoria Valentine]

"I've had it with this," Victoria growled...

"Light of fire, chill of dark!
Desperate hand of the Ancients!
By the wrath that grasps and destroys!"

She thrust her dagger as if trying to pierce the air. "Crimson Bands of Cyttorak! Bind and crush!" she thundered as the thick red bands flowed from an unseen hole where her dagger had stabbed.

[Prosopon]

The bands wrap around the giant centipede, tieing it's coiled body to itself in parts and cutting it's attack short. It lets out a screeching wail as the bands constrict and cut into it, thick blood seeping from it's body as it coughs up a bony dagger. It thrashes around in the growing pool of it's own blood trying to escape the crimson bands until the bands eventually shrink all the way, snapping the creature into several parts that still faintly twitch as they spill what must be the creature's guts.

Victoria(s) watched the bits of the creature, even as the bands faded into motes of crimson light. "Well, that looked convincing, but I don't trust it..."

[Samantha McManus]

"I don't either, particularly. This thing is... ancient." She said, finally righting herself.

[Prosopon]

The thick, black blood keeps spreading over the tiled floor as first the guts, then the rest of the creature dissolves.

[Victoria Valentine]

"And I suppose that's that," Victoria said, disgusted. "He'll probably be irate the next time we see him. Care to take a pick at what I saw?"

[Samantha McManus]

"You managed to see something while it was trying to kill us?"

[Victoria Valentine]

"Well, when a Darkhold-bound creature shows untoward interest in us, we really do need to find out why," Victoria reasoned. "And I have two minds to look it over."

[The Book of Sins]

Behind them Melpomene (or rather, the real Mallory Davis) is still struggling against her restraints. Possibly because her face is still missing with Mel's face lieing on the ground next to the bed.

[Samantha McManus]

"That's ghoulish," she said with a glance to the woman before kneeling down to pick up the face. She gently tried to put it back on.

"But do go on. What did you see?"

[Victoria Valentine]

"I rather think I saw your dear little friend wearing this one's real face." She thought a minute. "Unless she has more than one collected face to choose from. I suppose that's possible. But all the same, just take a peek."

[Samantha McManus]

Samantha frowned as she made contact.

"...that's Miss Davis. She's posing as a student..."

[Victoria Valentine]

"So I see you're finding the reasons for righteous fury as well," Victoria said.

[Samantha McManus]

"We have to go back. Immediately."

[Victoria Valentine]

"So how fast does that jet fly?" Victoria asked mildly as her avatar dissolved.

[Samantha McManus]

"What are you suggesting?"

[Victoria Valentine]

"That you're right and we need to get the hells back there quickly?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Unless you're going to pull a conveyance out of your arse, I'm headed for the plane."
