Setting: Off Campus Flats

Postby Narrator » Mon Feb 16, 2009 5:14 pm

The 'off campus' student housing is actually located more or less inside the South Campus area. However, the South campus is much less cohesive, so the apartments in this area feel much more like they are simply normal apartments in the city.

Off campus housing is only partially paid for by university financial aid, students without a job or other source of income will have to live in the dorms. An exception is made for married students, and students with children, they can get an off campus flat subsidized by the school.

The flats are not fancy, but clean and modern, with sizes ranging from small studios to three bedroom affairs. The University owns the buildings, and will only rent them to students or faculty. Each apartment building has a small lounge to help the residents get acquainted with each other, and a laundry facility, but no food or recreational facilities.

Students in the apartment are responsible for paying whatever portion of their rent financial aid doesn't cover, and all utilities and other bills. The off campus flats are not regulated by the Campus Housing office any more than a normal apartment would be, making them quite attractive to students in terms of freedom, should they have the resources to afford a flat here.
