"Aye. Like I said... odd turns of phrase."

[Nailah Weaver]

"That's no turn of phrase I ever heard of."

[Samantha McManus]

"Hard to see it as just an expression, aye?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"You don't think..."

[Samantha McManus]

"You don't think that crossed my mind?"

"But how am I supposed to deal with that? How can I just leave that be?"

"You don't. After that I'm surprised you let her wander off in the first place..."

"What do I even say that doesn't make it worse?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"Okay maybe you should make sure before jumping to any conclusions..."

"Aye. It's... it's not like I could have just called her out on it, is it?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"I don't even know. I suppose you could have read her thoughts, but..."

[Samantha McManus]

"But if that's who she is to me... I can't even fathom the ramifications of reading her thoughts."

[Nailah Weaver]

"I know. And even if she's not it's uncalled for."

[Samantha McManus]

"Aye. It's a violation no matter who she is."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Then confronting her seems to be the only sensible option..."

[Samantha McManus]

"It just... it just sounds so mad to flat-out ask her."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Well what else can you do?"

[Samantha McManus]

"It kind of scares me, aye? Not that it should."

[Nailah Weaver]

"I'll be honest, the thought is... well I'm not sure what to make of it, you know?"

"...you're wondering if she's yours, too."

[Nailah Weaver]

Nailah opens her mouth, then closes it again. "I hadn't even... I mean... Seriously?" she quirks an eyebrow at Sam.

"It's not... it might not be outside the realm of possibility."

[Nailah Weaver]

"I'm just not going to think too hard on this right now, if you don't mind... But yeah, I'd assumed she'd be someone else's..."

[Samantha McManus]

"Aye, well... I suppose it's weighing enough on me, as it is."

[Nailah Weaver]

"The more I think about it the more I wonder if I even want to know. Because I certainly haven't thought about anything like that yet..."

"Brings everything into sharp, surreal focus..."

[Nailah Weaver]

"You'd think I would be used to things like that."

"We've all got our blind spots."

"Okay, there's no point in speculating. We have to ask her."

"We do. Together?"
