Setting: The Quad

Postby Narrator » Mon Feb 16, 2009 4:06 pm

The Quad is a major gathering place for students and faculty alike. It consists of two major areas, a large grassy lawn set between four of the largest classroom buildings in the University, and a broad red-brick plaza. The lawn itself is the area more commonly referred to by the students as 'The Quad', and the plaza is usually called 'Red Square'. However, the two areas border each other, so student traffic flows pretty freely between them.

The Quad lawn is a little smaller than a football field, and is mostly grass, divided up by a number of criss-crossing concrete paths. Here and there, trees have been planted for shade and aesthetics.

The Red Square plaza is about the same size as the Quad lawn, and much more open. There are few obstructions or features on the plaza, just a couple of sculptures near the edges. Every semester, one of the sculptures is replaced by a new one, created by a student in the XLU art school.

The Quad and Red Square are located in the North Campus section of the school, and as such are near to the Liberal Arts libraries, and the 'normal' classrooms for standard majors like History, Political Science, Engineering, Math, etc.
