"I could short out either group's radios," Meg said, "but I don't know if that'll make a difference. It'll probably put them more on alert than anything else. But it's an option if we need it."
"Ah fuck... Cal, port in, port whoever looks like they belong to us out, I'll try to stall them." she makes a snap decision and reaches out towards the cops with her power and tries to root them to the ground, though she's a bit far away to do an optimal job...
"Not the kind of criminal I ever wanted to be, but what the hell," Cal muttered. HAL, put me in. Eighth floor, room 816 if you can, high power economy, I want to be ready for a fast second jump if we need it.
Oh, hell. HAL, lock on this guy, bodyslide him out, put him in the alley next to the building. Then I want you to hack the local emergency services and put this into their computer without having to make a call.
Rather hard to see through the smoke, but there was a dead body in there---and more than that, the body had two large gashes down the back, from shoulderblade down to mid-back. He also had had his head smashed in.
Acknowledged. Analyzing substance and air currents.
Cal didn't want to stick in there too long for obvious reasons. He switched to ultrasound to try to get a picture of the dead guy that way, then started searching for anyone else that was in the apartment.
Probably some ass messing with bleach and something else. HAL, get me the fuck out of here. And, without further ado, Cal beamed back to the group, gasping in a breath as soon as it was safe to do so. "Not good," he gasped.
"Only guy in the apartment is very, very dead, and the place is full of toxic fumes," Cal rasped as micro-filters in his lungs worked on venting out trace fumes in them.
Before Meg could give smarmy reply, she saw the cops dash toward the building. A second later, she saw them stop, unable to move forward. It didn't take much to guess that Kat had locked up their legs.
Extending both hands, Meg send an EM pulse toward both the officers and their car, hoping to short out their radios. If it took out a street lamp or two in that immediately area, however, she wasn't going to be too upset.
