Brassworks- after Apocalypse's attack

Postby Narrator » Mon Apr 30, 2012 11:27 pm

Things had been going on more or less intact at the Brassworks since Bobby's death. Orders came in, finished cars went out, and the staff was good enough to keep the bills paid.

Things were a bit more somber, of course, given the circumstances.

Still, things continued to need maintenance, as a flickering light deep in the spare parts stores indicated.

((Brassworks staff to the thread. make some exposition, then fix the damn light))

Nick, sporting an oil and grease smeared t-shirt & jeans, stepped into the office to take a small break. He took a can of soda from the staff fridge and went to take a seat.

"Uuuuuuugh..." he groaned slowly as he eased into a chair, rubbing the cold aluminum of the can across his sweaty forehead.

Renko's gauntlet glowed as he stared at the flickering light in the spare parts store. He looked a a bit...tired.

"At least we don't need to buy light bulbs," Renko said to himself.

As Renko's power rewound the flickering lightbulb to pristine condition, there was an audible pop and whiff of ozone, coming from a small fuse box behind a storage shelf.

"That or actually be careful when using things like expensive tools, cars, office supplies," Renko said as he walked towards the fuse box and opened it. He wanted to see what was actually wrong before just time warping it.

Inside the fuse box was not a rack of fuses, it turned out. rather, there appeared to be a biometric scanning system with a fingerprint reader and a retina analyzer. A puff of smoke flew out once it was opened, obviously from an electrical short of some sort.

"A broken beacon," Renko said and cleared out the smoke to look at the technology that was where fuses would normally be. "Great, that's not spooky or anything..."

Renko grabbed a multi-tool from his pocket and selected a screwdriver. He looked at the reader/analyzer trying to find a way to pry it open.

The "fuse box" wasn't finished yet, as a spark flew out before the entire system went dead.

There was a mechanical click, and the adjacent parts shelf swung out slightly, a seam appearing in the wall.

"Bloody god damn," Renko said withdrawing his hand before seeing the seam. "Finding out that our boss has secrets."

Renko ran a hand along the seam and dissolved a grip into the seam before pulling.

The shelf moved a bit heavily, obviously usually opening with mechanical help not available with the shorted out system.

A hallway was revealed, constructed of metal and with unlit fixtures mounted in the ceiling. The hallway got progressively darker the further from the doorway.

"Torch," Renko said patting himself down and eventually pulling out a rather small flash light. "Creepy? Maybe if the lights start flickering, and the walls start bleeding."

Renko turned on the flash light and began walking down the hallway.

Nick, meanwhile, used his own small work flashlight to check for a light switch.

"Dibs on the Brassmobile."

The hallway continued, after a few flights of stairs downward, about 500 yards in a straight line.

Things got eerily silent for a little bit, before another door was reached. There was a dripping sound, an addition to a smell of excavated earth, stale bleach, and musty dampness beyond.

After opening the door, Nick and Renko would find... Nothing too shocking.

They were in a large excavated room, supported by metal beams and supports. Littered about we're large, waterproof containers apparently designed to keep the items within from succumbing to the humidity.

There were a few tables and chairs with power outlets nearby, apparently set up for portable electronic equipment. A left behind broken laptop seemed to confirm that.

Most noticeable, however, appeared at the far side of the room: a dock, up against a large pool of dank water. A Sizeable gas pump sat on the dock, ready to refuel whatever pulled up.

"At least no obvious ones," Renko joked before walking towards the laptop trying to see how broken it was exactly. "I mean looking around you'd have to think our boss was some kind of vigilante."

The laptop wasn't horribly mangled- it looked like it had been dropped on its side, due to the scuffs and break marks.

"Maybe he thought being an X-Man was too limiting?" Renko asked as he began repairing the the laptop with his powers. He then tried turning it on hoping that maybe it would be a clue of some sort.

Renko's power workers splendidly with the laptop, as the metal and plastic knitted and snapped back into working order.

Upon powering on, the screen lit, displaying the following picture:
