Dt10: The Shadow Bar

[Onyx]

Onyx walked into her bar, looking around with cold eyes. The bar had been empty and closed since she'd reabsorbed that pesky shadow of hers.

It was time to put an end to all these silly dreams.

Black tendrils snaked out from her body, ripping the place apart piece by piece. And as she tore down everything she'd built up, there was the faint ghost of a smile on her face.

[Alyson Gregory]

By sheer coincidence, Alyson was walking by the bar. The movement inside caught her eye, and she watched through the window.

[Onyx]

Piece by piece, board by board, Onyx took apart everything. She wasn't doing it kindly either, equipment was smashed, chairs were thrown against the wall, and the bar itself was literally ripped apart.

Onyx glanced in the mirror and her face twisted into a snarl. A black clawed arm came out of the shadows and ripped it off the wall before she smashed it under her boot.

[Alyson Gregory]

What the hell is she doing? Alyson said as she stood there, transfixed.

[Onyx]

"I should burn this place down," Onyx said, glancing at the shadows, "It sickens me."

There was a pause. The remaining lights flickered for a moment.

"It will take some time. Do not worry."

"Everything is going as planned."

Onyx smiled, smashing another piece of glass under her foot.

[Alyson Gregory]

"What are you planning?" Alyson called from the door.

[Onyx]

Onyx's face changed instantly back to the submissive, impassive look she usually had.

"I am sorry, ma'am?" Onyx says.

[Alyson Gregory]

"What are you planning?" Alyson asked "Besides spitting on Onyx's grave."

[Onyx]

"I do not understand, ma'am," Onyx says, "I came here to close the bar down permanently. Someone must have broken in. It is very unsettling."

[Alyson Gregory]

"You're lying. Its interesting that you are, but you're lying."

[Onyx]

Onyx gave Alyson a cold look, "...Did you know your fiancee screamed when I took her, Ms. Gregory?"

"She screamed your name. It was her dying words. I enjoyed that quite a bit."

[Alyson Gregory]

Alyson winced internally, but managed to keep it off her face "So, you're a sadist. Interesting."

[Onyx]

"Is it sadism if you enjoy hurting yourself? Or is it just extreme masochism?" Onyx asks, "I could hurt you, if you would enjoy that, ma'am. We could find out together."

[Alyson Gregory]

"Why are you hurting yourself, then? You absorbed her, so some part of you must remember what its like to be happy."

[Onyx]

"Yes, I know what it is like to be happy, ma'am," Onyx says bitterly, "It hurts. It hurts more than anything else."

[Alyson Gregory]

"How?"

[Onyx]

"Because it is driving me crazy!" Onyx shouts suddenly, shadows boiling around her, "I am a servant! A vessel! How can I serve my purpose if I want to go back?"

[Alyson Gregory]

"Because that isn't all you are. Onyx new that. She wanted to be more, and she became more."

[Onyx]

"You do not understand anything," Onyx says, "When the darkness falls, I will eat your fucking heart and end this all."

The shadows reach out, twisting around Onyx and then she disappears.
