I9DT - Danger Room - Nothing to see here...

Postby Brigid Plunder » Thu Mar 29, 2012 5:20 pm

Brigid was dressed in what she hoped were fairly unassuming workout clothes. She'd left her glasses in the locker room. Letting out a long breath, she stepped out into the Danger Room proper.

"Welcome. State student name."

"Brigid O'Hara."

"Match not found. State valid student name."

"What? But that's my..."

"State valid student name."

She sighed.

"Brigid Plunder."

"Acknowledged. New account initialized. Be advised, privileges will be restricted until base competency assessment has been performed. Do you wish to perform base competency assessment at this time?"

"Er... okay?"

"Acknowledged. Beginning obstacle phase of base competency assessment."

The floor began to move, several platforms raising, others developing slopes. A series of moving pendulums swung out of the walls, one of which Brigid had to dodge rather quickly to avoid.

"Gah!"

Well now... what's this? Alex stood outside the Danger Room, having been curious for obvious reasons, and found that he'd been beaten to the punch. Frowning, he looked around until he saw the door to the observation room, heading over to see if it was open.

Brigid certainly didn't know enough about the Danger Room to even be aware of the observation deck, much less how to lock it out.

As Alex looked down, one thing was definitely evident: she was a bit faster on reaction times than she had any right to be. Her surprise at the shifting room was quickly subsiding, as she dodged the moving obstacles and made her way across the room.

"Stupid AI..." she muttered.

"Subject is only making this harder on herself."

Eesh, he thought, peering over the console into the Danger Room. Guess hunting dinosaurs does a body good... Alex was no slouch athletically, but he also hadn't spent his life in the savage land. So it wasn't with a small amount of self-consciousness that he watched Brigid down in her Danger Room session.

Brigid was breathing heavily by the time she reached the other end of the room.

"Reflexes assessed. Beginning tactical assessment."

"What? No! No, no, no, no, no!"

"Expecting this unit to have mercy is irrelevant, fleshy one."

Brigid grumbled as several robots rose out of the floor around her. Looking at them, she sized them up.

"Least they ought to give her a spear," Alex muttered, watching with no small amount of apprehension as the robots came up.

Gritting her teeth, Brigid dodged one swing from the first robot, and with the second swing she caught it by the wrist. Gripping, she spun around and slammed the first robot into the second, knocking both over. With a kick to the robot's torso, she pulled the arm free and pushed its jagged edge through the torso of the third robot.

A green light shone on her from above after the robots were defeated. She still held the sparking arm, panting.

"Tactical assessment completed."

"Why on earth did you-"

"Have a nice day."

Brigid grumbled, catching her breath.

Or... ah... maybe she doesn't need a spear. Yow. That... wow. Alex watched, impressed and more than a little intimidated, as he waited to see if the computer had anything else for her.

It apparently didn't, as she dropped the arm and it was swept back into the machinery of the room.

Decidedly less enthusiastic about trying the room now, Brigid headed for the exit. She was apparently unaware Alex was nearby.

Alex decided that... well, all things considered, he'd just stay in the room for a bit while she left. SO he stood there, his eyes tracking her, hearing the door to the Danger Room open, and about there was where he noticed that he'd left the observation room door wide open. Oh shit, he thought, trying to hurry and close it before she'd see him.

Hearing the door, her gaze snapped towards the noise.

Oh crap...

"Uh... someone there?"

"Hm? Oh, hi," Alex said, abandoning his effort to close the door and trying to make it look like he'd been opening it as he stepped out.

A flush steadily crept into her cheeks as she stammered.

"Oh, no! I mean... that computer sounded like a complete dick, you didn't tell it to do any of that!" he stammered back, shifting uncomfortably.

"I just... you know, wanted to try it out. Find out what the fuss is about."

By now she was bright red.

"Well, yeah, I mean, I'd heard stuff too, and..." As he shifted, he noticed his clothes and abruptly shut the hell up before his foot crept into his mouth.

"So... I guess it's all yours?"
