I10DT: Quad - Flight School

Haley sat under a tree in a pair of short work-out shorts and a brightly-colored athletic tee, waiting for her impromptu flight lesson with Kyra. She was both really excited and quite nervous about this--she'd certainly JUMPED pretty far with the help of her TK, but consistently using it to actually fly? That was just crazy.

"Yeah. Ready as I'll ever be I guess," she smiled nervously. "I'm Haley...don't think we actually introduced each other when we were...talking...in the cafeteria."

"Nice to meet you," she smiled, shaking Kyra's hand. "I've never really...talked with anyone else like that before. I usually just..hear stuff, or think too loud and then people think I'm talking to them. It kinda sucks," she frowned.

"Yeah, it totally does." Kyra said "Its tough at first, before you learn to shield. When my mutation manifested....I spent a couple years living with my aunt in the middle of nowhere, it was so bad."

"I guess my telepathy isn't as good as my tk, so maybe I should be happy about that. Still makes for a lot of headaches and way too much drama," she smirked.

"I'm telempathic, which made it worse." Kyra agreed "But yeah, its never fun. Anyway, ready to try flying?"

"Yeah," she smiled nervously. "How do we do this? I...can sometimes sort of control what I do, but it's almost like my powers have a mind of their own sometimes..."

Haley looked up at the sky and squinted a bit, then back down at the ground and closed her eyes, trying to will herself upwards, at least a little bit.

She of course remained completely on the ground.

Haley sighed in frustration at her powers' refusal to show up when she wanted it to, "Yeah. That'd probably be a good start,"

"Ok" Kyra said, and Haley would feel her mind being flooded with what Kyra did to get herself off the ground. Not just a simple set of verbal instructions, but how she did it, and how it felt, from Kyra's point of view.

Haley staggered a little bit, but caught herself before she fell to the ground, letting out a very Neo-esque "whoa."

"That was intense," she said, a small grin starting to creep across her face. "Alright...that kinda makes sense. I guess now I just try...and you make sure you catch me?" she chuckled nervously.

"okay," she smiled nervously.

Haley took a deep breath and let it out slowly, and tried to mimic what she felt when Kyra shared. She closed her eyes and focused and she she re-opened them, she was floating gently six feet off the ground. She squealed excitedly--and promptly lost her concentration, pitching head first and falling towards the ground.

Haley pushed herself up from where she had landed--albeit gently--flat on her stomach. "Okay. So guess I need to stay kinda focused on what I'm doing if I want to be any good at it, huh?" she squinted as she looked up at Kyra from the ground.

"It goes crazy with my moods, does weird shit when I dream, and gives me headaches constantly. When I want it to work, it doesn't, and when I don't, it's freaking insane. I'm just waiting for someone to drop a bucket of blood on me at the first school dance like that old movie," she frowned.
