Haley hopped off the small bus that had brought the group of fellow freaks from the school and out into the hot summer afternoon in Salem's downtown. She was wearing a tank top and the ridiculously short shorts that she hid whenever her parents were around, and at the moment had her face buried in her phone as per usual, her face obscured by big sunglasses.
Kay followed after her and, lacking an image inducer this time, is wearing her hoodie, almost drawn down over her face despite the heat. She's, as she has been since she decided to come, questioning her decision to do just that.
"Yeah! Listen to Jak...Jason?" Haley chirped, looking up from her phone and finally putting it in her back pocket. "Still think you've gotta be dyin' in that hoodie though. I'm from Texas an' I think it's hotter'n hell. God damn humidity."
As if to prove Haley right, a group of kids, all obviously mutants, emerged from an alley close by. The most normal-looking of them seemed to be telling the rest of them something, then watched them all head off in different directions. Alone now, he shrugged and headed into a nearby store.
"C'mon. I heard there's like an ice cream shop around here or some shit. Supposed to be really good. Let's go find it," she grinned, practically charging off down the street--with or without the rest of the group.
Paul was, currently, taking his milkshake from the lady on the other side of the counter, when the perky girl in short shorts walked in. Well now... what have we here?
Haley practically skipped up to the counter and ordered herself a large strawberry milkshake. As she stood waiting for her frosty treat, playing with her phone, she took notice of Paul.
Helloooooo hottie.... she thought...perhaps too loudly.
Shit. Are you a teep too, or am I just really good at hearing you she looked at him, forcing a nervous smile after grabbing her shake and fidgeting with the straw nervously.
Me? A teep? Now that would make life interesting. You want to come over here so I can stop feeling creepy with my thoughts? He chuckled a little as he looked her over again.
"Where did Haley go?" she wonders all of a sudden, apparently having missed her dashing off due to trying to figure out a way to seem as unremarkable as possible next to the rest of the group.
Paul Valmont wrote:"I'm Paul," he said, looking more than a little amused at the whole situation. "You know that you're cute when you're nervous, right?"
Haley, much to her chagrin, blushed. "You're not too hard on the eyes either," she said, trying to regain a bit of composure while she sipped her milkshake through a straw.
"Don't recognize you from school. Are you just a local mutant?"
Paul smirked. "What, Xavier's? Nah, I go to the Academy of Tomorrow, up in Massechussets. We just like to come sneak into town here where they're used to seeing all of you guys running around."
He grinned. "Something like that. Always pays to have someone that can get you anywhere, right? SO what about you, besides flirting with guys on the sly?"
He shrugged. "Beats me. Our headmistress is a telepath that turns into a walking diamond, so I don't really take any of that for granted, y'know? Still... you can talk without talking and touch stuff without touching them... cool," he said, with a slightly wicked grin.
