Danger Room: Full Moon Rising

Stephanie dropped hard into a crouch as she hit the ground, a light sheen of sweat covering her. She'd just climbed over a fence surrounding what looked like a military compound or rebel base. She stayed in the shadows of the trees, the light of the moon brightly reflecting on a nearby lake illuminating several guards drinking from a flask and paying little attention to their surroundings. Her yellow eyes darted back and forth and she sniffed the air to see if many more guards were nearby--but they all seemed to be either inside some of the other buildings on the other side of the compound. A twig snapped nearby and she spotted a lone guard relieving himself on a tree. Creeping close silently she waited for the right moment, and then slammed the guards head violently into the tree, bringing him to the ground.

The Warrior of Atlantis slowly rose from the lake, the water clinging thickly to him as he looked around, carefully taking in the scene. Hm. So, a night for bloodshed, that seems to be what we have in store... Well, we can manage such things.

The werewolf would first be aware of the scent of the lake growing stronger... which might be because of the wind... but there was no mistaking the sudden smell of (some sort of) flesh as the water suddenly was no longer covering it but surging out toward her like a coiling whip.

Stephanie made an impressive leap into the air, grabbing a branch of the nearby oak and vaulting into its branches. She looked down and growled at the tendril of water that slapped against the base of the tree where she had been seconds ago. She bared her fangs, which were already lengthening as her muscles bulged, fur sprouted on her, and her face twisted and contorted into a muzzle. She looked for the source of what was controlling the water, sniffing the air.

"Well now," Zeryn mused. "A stealthy entrance. Impressive. I've always found stealth to be rather the tool of the incapable, though." He was standing rather openly, the water retracting to cover his body again. "Care to prove me wrong?" he challenged with a smirk.

"Gladly," Stephanie growled.

She dropped from the tree and darted towards Zeryn blindingly fast, her razor-like claws ready to swipe.

Zeryn took a moment to admire the opponent rushing at him... but only a moment, as that's all he had. Then the battle was on.

Zeryn could have surrounded her with water, suffocated her, stabbed her with some form of hard-water weaponry. "Mmm... hand to hand is much better," he grunted, driving an elbow at the werewolf, trying to lunge inside her grasp in a blow that would use her own momentum to create most of the force. "More intimate that way." Yes, he was smug... but then again, anything to unsettle an opponent.

The elbow caught her just below the throat on her collarbone but left his chest open to be raked by her claws. Stephanie growled, her momentum carrying her past him; she skidded to a halt and spun to face him again

Zeryn let out a hiss of pain as he spun in place with her momentum. Still... there was a fierce grin on his face as he stared her down, three gashes across his check with blood only held inside by his power. "Very good," he growled, then it was his turn to rush forward, spinning in place as he grabbed a fallen log and swinging it at her like it was a baseball bat.

Stephanie slid to the ground gracefully avoiding the high swing, simultaneously hooking her powerful legs around Zeryn's in a quick, strong sweep to bring him to the ground.

Zeryn twisted with the fall, as much as the legs around his waist would allow, lashing out with another arm to try to catch her throat, perfectly willing to accept this turning into a wrestling match if he could get a good grip on her as well.

Stephanie kicked her legs free of Zeryn's, but since he quickly scrambled over to try and choke her, she contorted slightly and snapped her jaws at his arm, snarling.

Zeryn's power tried to compensate, hardening to keep Stephanie from biting too deep, but still, she tasted flesh (somewhat saltier than a normal man). Having been bitten by creatures before, Zeryn well knew not to try to wrench himself away, but rather moved in, trying to get an angle to keep her from being able to shake her grip to do more damage than the teeth sinking in (blocked though they were from getting deeper) had done.

The taste of blood filled her mouth and the rational part of Steph's mind screamed in horror as she realized the safeties were either turned off or didn't do as much between two real combatants than they did between the computer. She instantly let go, fell backwards, and scrambled to her feet while shifting back to human form.

"Computer, freeze simulation! Oh my gosh, are you okay?" she asked, her mouth covered in blood. She spit, grimacing at the taste.

Zeryn's eyes flashed with a wild light as he swung his leg around to spin into a crouch, ending facing her. "Don't stop now, it was just starting to get good," he answered.

The thin sheen of water over his body was red around the bite wounds, and the scratches in his chest, but only right there, and the spots didn't seem to be growing. Zeryn lunged next, propelling himself with powerful legs and grabbing her, tackling her through the air, the lake coming down toward her back.

Stephanie was taken completely off guard, and splashed into the water with Zeryn grappling her again. Completely submerged by the time she got some semblance of what was going on, she shifted into her Amazon-like human form to get a bit more muscle mass without letting her more feral side influence her thoughts more than she wanted. She tried to wrench free of his grasp while bringing a knee strike ineffectually to Zeryn's gut, slowed from the water.

Zeryn was completely in his element now, and while he didn't seem immune water resistance, he was much more used to working around it, knowing movements that would be quick and effective and which ones should be avoided. He deflected the knee off his thigh, slithering around her, obviously moving to subdue her rather than hit her.

Stephanie continued to struggle mightily, each trust, twist, and kick, causing more air to rush from her lungs in a stream of bubbles.

Oh no... she realized as she looked up at the light of the moon shimmering on the surface of the lake, ten or fifteen feet above them. She renewed her struggles with even greater fervor, but the panic did nothing to help focus her movements, and quickly, her vision started to haze, and her movements turned sluggish and weak.

Zeryn's gills flared as he wrestled his way around her, his muscles straining to contain her. He caught his arm around her back, fingers strong as steel clamping down on her hair, holding her head steady. His lips were sealed tightly as he pushed them against hers. The action might be misconstrued for a moment, until he let out a rush of air he'd been building up into her mouth.

Not that he didn't enjoy it, of course. But that was another matter.

Stephanie was probably seconds away from blacking out completely when suddenly her lungs were filled with fresh air and she was being kissed firmly on the lips. She felt a rather strange mixture of relief, gratitude, and anger at what certainly felt like a kiss, and her eyes opened wide in surprise, then narrowed. Re-energized, and with Zeryn slightly less focused on keeping her pinned, she let fly a much better targeted uppercut to his gut.

Zeryn was slammed back, and air would have escaped his lips if he hadn't just given all of it to her. He looked back at her with a fierce, wild look, lunging and fighting back as his gills flared, starting to draw in enough to keep himself oxygenated and convert enough into air to replace what he'd just lost. He drove her deeper in the water with a lunge and a blow to the stomach... her weakness was her need for air, of course, so best to use that.

Stephanie's back connected with the sandy floor of the lake after the shove and she tried as quickly as she could to propel herself up from the bottom and to the surface to get her own air. She had time, but the last thing she wanted was another mouth to mouth session from fish lips.
