Power: Natalya is a cryokinetic, capable of projecting a field of varying temperatures around her ranging from slightly above freezing to well below freezing. She also has the ability to manipulate ice, forcing it to move and creating constructs from it that move with a remarkable degree of fluidity. Given her powers, she has the ability to survive in extremely cold temperatures without assistance. She has had problems in the past maintaining her body temperature, but those seem to be a thing of the past.

Personality: Natalya can be a little cold. Some have described her as having an acknowledge dark side which she has no problem showing if the situation warrants it. She's very professional when it comes to the school's safety and security and she doesn't play games with people who would violate that security, preferring to put them on ice and sort it out when things are less hectic.

Description: Natalya is a medium height Russian woman with a gymnast's build. Her hair, normally a light blue, washes to white the more power she employs. Her eyes are a deeper, darker blue. She's almost persistently somewhat pale, which she insists she can do nothing about.

Background: Natalya was the daughter of a defector from the Soviet KGB. She grew up largely in the United States, attending Xavier's Institute after her powers appeared. She left the Institute early because her parents were threatened by a former KGB operative, now a Russian mafia boss, that her father had double-crossed in his defection. She was taken by the Russian mafia and exposed to a partial process from the Omega Red project that amplified her powers, but left her with an inability to survive outside of maintaining a chill around herself to keep her body temperature down. Escaping, she fell in with some other mutants and ended up attacking the Institute. She was arrested and sentenced, but was released into SHIELD's custody as an agent to work for her release. She had the rest of her sentence commuted due to good behavior and service to SHIELD. After her sentence was commuted, she left SHIELD so that she didn't have to deal with the bureaucracy anymore.

She was offered a position in security at the Institute and became Assistant Head of Security. She was promoted to Head of Security when the previous head of security retired. She's held the position ever since. A government raid on the Institute left her temporarily depowered. The antidote to the depowering agent seems to have corrected some of the issues that the partial Omega Red process inflicted, so that she doesn't have to live in a perpetually cold environment. Still, she keeps her office very very well air-conditioned, even in winter.

Natalya has a great deal of experience and knowledge on both sides of the law as well as SHIELD training in both hand-to-hand combat and fire-arms. She has quite a few contacts on both sides of the law as well, though she doesn't advertise her less reputable contacts.
