Name: Maggie Ferguson
Codename: N/A
Age: 15
Country of Origin: Canada
Power: Generation of ultraviolet radiation – Maggie can produce UV radiation from her skin. The effect is most potent close to her skin, and she generally can’t radiate her powers very far. For now, her power is mostly useful for causing burns at close-range, as well as various other non-combat applications, such as sterilization, forensics, and turning herself into a human blacklight…not that she even knows about all of these uses just yet. Except the blacklight part.
Personality: Maggie is a sports jock, who has a competitive streak that’s tempered by a certain joie de vivre. Despite coming from a family that isn’t very supportive of mutants, she doesn’t carry grudges for long and is simply trying to move on with her life.
Physical description: Maggie is 5’5” tall, with the characteristic Ferguson grey eyes and light brown hair, often bleached even lighter from being in the sun.
Background: Other than a lot of moving around, Maggie’s life was fairly normal until the day that her older brother admitted to the family that he was a mutant. Rick soon left to attend Xavier’s in New York, and once the Ferguson family moved on again, Maggie’s brother became a family secret.
Life went on like that for a couple of years or so, until Maggie started having reason to believe that she also had the X-Gene. It manifest during moments of duress, as with a lot of mutants; if she was angry or upset, she might accidentally singe something that she was touching. She was hesitant to tell anyone but her brother about this, as she was trying to enjoy school sports and making friends as much as possible. The public revelation of her mutancy threatened to change all of that.
As her father’s rhetoric became stronger and stronger, though, she found that she couldn’t stomach dealing with his negativity anymore, no matter how much he provided for the family. There was just no way that she could internalize that kind of hate.
Finally, having had all of it that she could stand, she told her parents about her powers, and started making plans to attend Xavier’s, hoping to find acceptance (probably) and a sense of normalcy (yeah right).
