After Thanksgiving - Last night in Seattle

Postby Rick Ferguson » Fri Nov 13, 2009 1:04 am

Rick had been winding down the evening by playing some video games with Marcus, mowing through hordes of aliens with machine guns. "I know it'sold, but you should bring this game back with us to London. It's fun!"

"To be honest, the best games are old games! New games end up focusing too much on graphics and stuff. So I'll bring it back."

As they were completing the mission, Rick's phone started ringing, and upon checking it, he would see that it was a number he didn't know. Ignoring it at first, he received a text message from the same number a few seconds after the phone stopped ringing.

'Rick, is this ur #?'

"...Huh."

Rick typed back 'yeah. who is this?'

All he received as a response was 'B there in a sec'

"Okay, who is this, and how the hell do they know where I am?"

Marcus was still focused on the game but gave a glance over to Rick. "Well, just how many people know you're here?"

"Just my sister." Rick slid open the blinds in Marcus's room and took a look outside. There really wasn't anything to see, but a few moments later, he received another next.

'at the front door'

"....oh, kay......"

Marcus paused the game and then set the controller down. He lifted himself up and turned to he could face Rick.

"Huh? What's up now?"

"Someone's at your front door, apparently."

Just as Rick finished saying that, something glowing and orangey-yellow streaked past outside the window. Rick's eyes instantly widened as he stared outside.

"Holy crap, I know that glow! Come on!," he told Marcus, bounding out of the bedroom and toward the home's front door.

Marcus saw the streak then looked puzzled for a second. "Oh great..' He hopped out of bed and followed Rick. "Gonna really hope this is just some friend of yours."

"Sort of. You know him."

Rick unlocked the front door and pulled it open. Outside, there was a man sitting on top of a glowing orange disk, levitating a few feet above the ground. He was dressed in an open long brown coat, worn-in jeans, a plain tan shirt, and heavy black boots. Though his hair was chestnut brown, his eyes were a stark shade of grey; almost exactly like Rick's.

"Noah!"

"Hey there Rick, Marcus." He smiled, nodding at both of them.

"That's kinda how I wanted it to be." Noah made the disk he sat upon dissipate, and he landed on the ground with a stomp.

"I talked for a while with my neice on the phone a few days ago. Figured I should drop by since you were in this neck of the woods."

"So that's why Bridget was asking where I was..."

"Bingo."

"Not exactly, but I live in Vancouver on a permanent basis now, so it wasn't a very long trip. All I really had to do was ask your sis to find out where you were."

"Well, it's cool that you found a place to settle. But what made you decide to do that?"

"Let's say I got a good job offer." Noah turned his left shoulder to them. Near the very top of his arm was a circlular back patch, with a yellow X inscribed within a yellow circle. "I'm in X-Corp now."

"That's awesome!"

"Thanks. I kind of thought so too." He smiled.

"But...what made you deice to really settle down somewhere?"

"I've gotten tired of always being the move. Hell, I've been doing that since I was younger than you, Rick. But no more. It's time I grew up. You know?"

"Yeah, sure, I guess. What about X-Corp though?"

"Oh, well, I knew there was an office in Vancouver, so I just applied." He shrugged. "Simple as that. I dunno what I could do as far as, what do they call it, mutant advocacy? But I think they figured I'd be pretty handy to have around if any mutants need protection." Noah then formed another glowing orange energy disk, this time against his forearm. Its radius extended from his arm down to his shins.

"That makes sense. Oh, yeah. You've never actually seen his power, have you?," Rick asked Marcus.

He smirked and shook his head. "Nah. Can't say I have. It's nice to be getting a little demonstration for once."

"I just make disks. Fly on them, throw them, use them as a shield. Stuff like that." He shrugged.

Marcus laughed. "I love how you make that sound like it's not cool. I wish I could do that stuff. Flying..that's for people in the cool club afterall."
