"Now? You show up in the morning at the capital. Tell them you have an appointment with me and they'll let you up to my office. I'll get you set up with orientation and a training regimen."

[Ria Larsen]

"I guess I'll see you then, boss." Ria chuckles.

[Michael Asters]

He chuckled. "I'll be waiting for you. Now go get some sleep. You're going to need it."

[Ria Larsen]

"Yes sir." Ria grins. Yeah right, like I'm going to sleep right away.

[Michael Asters]

All the more reason to start trying sooner, Cassiel thought with a smirk as he took a sip of his coffee.

[Julia White]

She watches stonegirl leave and seems to ponder something for a few moments.

Ah fuck it, chance like that isn't gonna come up again any time soon.

She stands up and walks over to where Cassiel's sitting a few tables over. While her clothes might not reflect it all that well she more or less stands at attention. "Lord Cassiel?"

Cassiel looked up from his coffee, faintly amused. "I suppose that it wouldn't do me any good to pretend to be my twin brother or something cliched like that?"

[Julia White]

She blinks, taken off-guard for a second by him joking for a second, but she catches herself again.

"Uhm, no sir, I suppose not. Beg your pardon, but I couldn't help but overhear that you are recruiting."

[Michael Asters]

"At ease," he said, trying to get this girl to stop standing at attention. "And it's possible that you heard that. Why? What does it mean if I am?"

[Julia White]

She noticably relaxes. "It means there's a point to asking you what it'd take for me to join the Accolytes. Sir." she says, deciding there's no point in talking around it.

[Michael Asters]

Cassiel regarded her carefully for a moment. "Why would I want you to be one of my Accolytes?" he asked.

[Julia White]

"That depends on what you are looking for..." she says, contemplating why he recruited gemstone-girl who, while looking tough, didn't seem like much of a fighter.

"But I've been wanting to join the Accolytes for a while now and have been preparing myself as best as I can."

[Michael Asters]

"Why?" he asked, taking another sip of his coffee.

[Julia White]

"Because there's no other way for me to get into places that have influence. I'm no politician..." she admits, "...and I ain't too hot on getting pressured by the aristocracy anyway, but I want to do my part and that's the best way I know how. I know you probably got no use for a bodyguard, but I want to help protect this place and you're one of the few people who can get me in a position where I can."

[Michael Asters]

Cassiel regarded her for a moment, and she could even feel a telltale probe at her mind. Then he picked up his coffee, looking back down again. "You aren't ready. You can't do it."

[Julia White]

"Bullshit!" she frowns. "I don't care if it's tough, I know I can do it. And if you checked close enough then you do too."

She stares at Cassiel, pretty sure that she's blown it with her outburst, but she's not going to back up now.

[Michael Asters]

"Tough?" he said, looking up at her again. "Tough? You're asking me to let you into the force that made Genosha, that shaped it, that defends it every day, whether people know it or not. And you think it might be 'tough'?" He shook his head. "Go home. I see kids like you almost every day, thinking they have what it takes."

[Julia White]

"I'm not asking you to just let me in. I'm asking you to give me a chance. This is exactly the kind of crap that is wrong here! Shiny McSparkly-pants gets a shot because she looks the part. Maybe I should grow some horns or an extra set of arms, would that be better?" she frowns.

[Michael Asters]

"Because she looks the part? Is that what you think?" Now Cassiel sounded irritated. "So now I should give you the chance because I owe it to you because you look exactly as 'much the part' as I do? Pull the other one. I ask you again: Why?"

[Julia White]

"No I... that's not... Sorry. You don't owe me anything, Sir. But I believe I deserve a fair chance to prove myself that I am capable of doing my part for Genosha. I'm not going to run just because it's hard. Just like I'm not going to run because you might think I can't do it."

[Michael Asters]

Cassiel nodded, this time picking up the menu to look at the deserts. "So you want to get in because you have something to prove," he elaborated, making a gesture to a waitress.

[Julia White]

"Everyone has something to prove. Yes, I want the challenge, but I picked this because maybe I can do some good there. I have no delusions that I'm going to single-handedly going to change things and those people talking about more democracy might have a point, but what good is that gonna do when it just gives people another branch to bribe and lobby against. At least no one tries to do that with Lord((?)) Magneto or you."

Something about what she said made Cassiel chuckle a little. The waitress he'd waved over came, setting a piece of pie in front of Cassiel, and another desert that he had to have pulled from Julie's mind in front of her. "So what next, then? How are you going to try to change the world?"

[Julia White]

"To be honest, Sir, I don't know yet. All I know about what's going on behind the scenes is word of mouth. I suppose the first would be to understand the dynamics, see who else agrees with me."

What are you doing, you don't even know if he agrees with you!

[Michael Asters]

"That is a good way to start," he admitted. "I know a lot of other people who come in thinking they know everything and never considering that they could be wrong."

[Julia White]

"Well I'm not going to change my mind about some things. But part of why I want in is because I don't know much. Besides, like I said, I'm no good talker. I'd do much better helping out the ones who are. And I believe you at least don't think I'm entirely wrong, because you haven't actually send me off yet."

[Michael Asters]

"Of course I haven't," he scoffed, picking up his fork. "You had the job the second I scanned you."

[Julia White]

She can't help but put on the hint of a cocky smile. "Thank you, Sir. You won't be disappointed."

[Michael Asters]

"I'm counting on that," he chuckled, pulling out another card and handing it to her. "Tomorrow morning. The capital. Don't be late."

[Julia White]

"Yes, sir!" she says with just a bit of exagerration, snatching up the card.
