Feb 23rd: The Long and Winding Road

[Sara Stanton]

"Then that's fine. I mean, people already know you're a little weird sometimes anyway."

[Will Stanton]

"Yeah, best to keep it under wraps as much as possible. I'm sorry it came out at all," he frowned.

[Sara Stanton]

"You don't have to hide who you are, Will. Just don't tell people about things that are... private."

[Will Stanton]

"You're embarrassed, though, right? Of me?"

[Sara Stanton]

"What? No. No no no! I'm embarassed if things that go on in the bedroom make it out there."

[Will Stanton]

"But you're always so...resistant. I mean, how would you feel, in theory, if people knew that I was your pen that time? Or your backpack? You always seem so worried."

[Sara Stanton]

"Okay, I guess I'd be a little embarassed by that too..." she admits. "But that's my problem, not yours. And I'm trying not to be too uptight about it..."

[Will Stanton]

"I know, I'm sorry.

It's just...I'm not embarrassed. I want to shout it to the world sometimes...I just know you're not comfortable with it. I wish...

I wish you WERE comfortable enough. I wish every now and again, rarely, you'd walk into the dining hall and Bear or someone would ask where I was and you'd say matter-of-factly "oh, he's my shoe today" or something, and not care. I do.

But I know you're not, and that's OK. It is. I just need to remember that, even when I'm drunk, to not talk about it."

[Sara Stanton]

"I... I'm trying. Just give me time, okay? It's not easy for me..."

[Will Stanton]

"I know, I know. I DO know.

But that's how that kinda stuff can come up, you see? I might have mentioned something along those lines to Simon--and likely only to Simon, I think. I mean most of the others were happy with the lap dances and strippers, me and Simon were talking about our girls and all that kinda stuff.

Simon's so understanding, too. I mean, he gets it--well, he doesn't GET it, but you know what I mean."

[Sara Stanton]

"It's okay. I'm not upset about it."

[Will Stanton]

"Well, I'm glad. I didn't want you to think I'm sneaking out behind your back to be Simon's jock or anything. I'm really sorry, again."

[Sara Stanton]

"I know you'd never do that. I might get a bit panic-y sometimes, but in the end I know I can trust you."

[Will Stanton]

"Just make sure if you're gonna get me drunk you keep me indoors," he said, finally flashing a small smile.

[Sara Stanton]

"I'd say keep you on a leash, but you know my thoughts on that." she chuckles.

[Will Stanton]

"'ts why I didn't mention it," Will snickered. "I can't imagine you ever, under any circumstances, having me on a leash-thing in anything remotely resembling a public situation."

[Sara Stanton]

"Good god no. It'd be literally petrifying."

[Will Stanton]

"And I'll never ask you to," he nodded.

"...Simon. Huh. Extended contact..." he mused.

[Sara Stanton]

"Okay, what are you thinking about now?" she chuckles.

[Will Stanton]

"Just wondering...if it's just the extended contact, I wonder how long it takes, and how complete the copying is--could I fool a DNA test, for instance," he mused.

[Sara Stanton]

"Maybe. But if it's thorough enough I think there's always traces of your X-Gene in there. There was in the samples of paper and stuff I took from you at least."

[Will Stanton]

"Hrm, aye.


...I promised not to think of that on our honeymoon, so I'll shut up now."

[Sara Stanton]

Sara laughs. "You might as well let it out. I'm not sure if you'd make it through without exploding."

[Will Stanton]

"No, no, a promise is a promise. Enough of that," he smiled.

[Sara Stanton]

"Alrighty then." she smiles.
