Back in the Paladin-Cave

Postby Order » Tue Nov 01, 2011 6:28 pm

Croyden was seated in what currently served as a war room, waiting for the heroes to return. Even though he had no system access, he had busied himself by watching the various camera feeds of the city.

Croyden would see Paladin walk up to the door with the team members each in their own unique state of injury. The door clicked and then opened.

"Infirmary is in the back," Paladin said as he lead the group of X-Men into the Paladin-Cave.

Sara walks into the room, still looking pale and shaken from what had just happened.

Ronnie was a little pale as well, though for different reasons. The legging of her costume was soaked through with blood.

"Can we go home yet?" She whined softly, trying to make a joke of it.

Daniel looked tired, and was favoring one side of his body, but didn't look like anything was going to slow him down. "All right," he said, flopping down in a seat. "That went about as well as we could expect. I think our odds just went up a little." All the same, he didn't sound very enthusiastic.

"Well then," Ms. McManus said as she entered with Professor Weaver shortly after the others, "it looks like you had better luck than we did."

Paladin turned towards McManus in the midst of removing a couple damaged pieces of armor.

"Aye, that I did," Paladin said, "Our good friend Faultline had them."

Paladin shrugged at McManus's comment.

"Mistakes were made," Paladin said, "Your students proved effective in taking her out of the current conflict and their injuries are fairly minor so your mistake fortunately did not have any permanent consequences."

"It has," Paladin said in response to Atropha's statement. "This many people makes a violent conflict more or less inevitable. I had hoped we might be able to do this stealthily but instead we are most likely going to have to rely on firepower.

I should be able to draw away some of the General's forces by getting the fledgling local resistance to create some civil disturbances. Attacking at night will also afford us some cover."

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll be able to avoid casualties entirely."

Daniel shook his head. "I'll be good soon. Don't want this stuck on you without anyone for you to dump it on," he answered, quiet enough that he wasn't talking over Paladin with the teachers there.

"We really need to stop traveling to parallel universes and terrible futures," Melody mumbled quietly to no one in particular from her seat not far from her frequent dystopian travel companion Daniel. She closed her eyes and leaned back in the chair, tempted by a shower but far more interested in not moving.
