Assault on the Hotel

Gid's opponent went down in pain, unable to stand with the knife in his knee.

Because killing people was generally frowned up Gideon simply removed the knife and went to help Will with his opponent by trying to jam the bloody knife into the soldier's shoulder from behind.

seeing the danger Paladin posed, two new soldiers advanced, brandishing knives this time.

Paladin charged in towards on of the two soldiers before they could get into a decent position and trusting in his body armor to protect him from the knives. As he reached the soldier he would attempt to grab then toss the man at his knife wielding compatriot.

Rob was hit twice, both solid blows that sent him reeling to the floor.

Melody swore as she remembered her powers were gone, but before she had too much time to think about it, the room was swarming with goons. She dropped into a defensive stance and joined the others in fighting them off. She struggled, however, as she wasn't nearly as good in a fight up close with no powers to back her up.

melody fought better then she thought, catching one guard by surprise with a chaotic strike, and liberating a nightstick for her troubles.

Will tried to duck and slam the big guy against the wall.

This was not his area of expertise.

Wearing an ugly sneer, the guard puffed out his chest, Will pushing against it ineffectually.

Nick wasn't going to give the guy a chance to recover, coming in to strike with the butt of the rifle the non-baseball way.

yeah, that put him out. with a face the color of a fire truck, the enemy went down in an uncomfortable heap, not getting up for a good, long time.

Both troops crumbled as they smacked into each other, quickly being replaced by for more, charging in with wicked looking karate chops and kicks.

bear flipped Heartbreaker over on her back, trying to get away by instinct to get some distance between them.

Will kicked the dude in the nuts. If he was just gonna stand there...

Melody tried to hide her surprise--and delight--at how handily she dealt with the attackers. She had a mischievous twinkle in her eyes as she hefted the night stick and started to go to town on the mooks, finding this far easier than punching, kicking and throwing.

[Heartbreaker]

Heartbreaker rolled with it, and then flipped up to her feet, grabbing for Bear's shoulders.

Captain Britain was having a hard time of things with her powers dampened. She'd gotten in a few hits here and there, but was mostly trying to keep her nose clean in this.

[Daniel Uriel]

"Heh... news flash. Some of us don't always have a power to rely on," Daniel muttered with a smirk, slipping in from behind to try to give not-Rachel a good suckerpunch with it. At least in this psycho-reality, people aren't telling me I can't give this bitch what she's got coming...

[Nick Varkan]

"I hope you feel that in the morning," Nick said with a cocky smirk.

He put the unexpectedly trusty rifle behind his back before taking up arms with the defeated soldier's nightstick. He then headed for Rob's opponent with a determined stride, aiming to club the soldier over the head.

[Heartbreaker]

Reeling a little from the punch, Heartbreaker tried to kick Daniel.

Daniel's training had never been easy. He had to train with a wide variety of powers, so that he'd know what to do with just about anything he burned in... but he'd also had to train for situations where he found himself without a power to burn in. And he'd taken his unpowered training very seriously.

Daniel caught the kick on his side with a grunt, then spun in low, aiming his knee for her gut and ready to take a shot at her face while he was in close.

Reeling a little from the punch, Heartbreaker tried to kick Daniel.

Bear screamed, jumping on Heartbreaker's back and attempting to get her in a choke hold.

[Narrator]

Will kicked the dude in the nuts. If he was just gonna stand there...

The sneer was quickly replaced by a groan of pain and a tear in the eye. yeah, that hurt.

A new mook stepped up, and began matching her, move for move, keeping her on her toes...

"So yer the magic one, huh? let's see how you do against the magic of my beating stick!"
a guard stepped up, swinging a baton at the side of the Captain.

The guard went down from the sucker rifle swing. nd he was doing so well against Rob!

Will took the weapon from the dude he kicked in the weapon, and hit him in the head with it, to knock him out, and move to help others.

[Nick Varkan]

"You okay Rob?" Nick asked, gesturing an offer to help the genius to his feet.

[Heartbreaker]

Heartbreaker tried to avoid Daniel's punch, but Bear's grab meant that his fist connected squarely with her jaw. She brought her foot down on top of Bear's, knowing her only chance was to get loose.

[Byrna Cooper]

The stomp on her foot caught her off guard, and she fell backwards.

[Daniel Uriel]

Daniel reversed his motion, bringing his elbow back at her to knock her away from where Bear fell.

[Robert West]

"Peachy," Rob says, getting up.

[Heartbreaker]

Heartbreaker was knocked back, and then landed on the floor with a thud.

[Nick Varkan]

"Here," Nick said as tossed Rob the newly unconscious guard's nightstick. He then went back to the task of clubbing bad guys.

[Narrator]

Eventually, the heroes were proven quite capable of dealing with the guards, depowered or not. after a few more minutes of intense whacking and club-a-dubbing, the remaining conscious assailants fed out a doorway that locked itself after the last one passed throu.

[Will Stanton]

"...Great.

NOW what?"

And what the HELL is going on with the other team?

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Figure out how he's blocking our powers and bludgeon him back to the stone age?" Captain Britain said, rubbing her ribs.

[Nick Varkan]

"I second that," Nick grinned.

[Will Stanton]

"The door's locked. Anyone know how to...get around that?"

[Nick Varkan]

"We could... oh I don't know... try picking the lock."

[Narrator]

As if on cue, the big door at the far end of the large room opened, begging entrance from the heroes.

[Will Stanton]

"Right...


After me..." Will said, sounding more confident than he felt, and headed to the door.

[Daniel Uriel]

"Certain doom. Why not," Daniel said, following Will out.

[Melody Martens]

"This asshole blocking our powers watches way too many bad action movies." melody grumbled, following the rest onthetext through the door.

[Nick Varkan]

"After the first dozen times or so, 'certain doom' starts to lose all meaning," Nick smirked as he followed.

[Gideon Rede]

Paladin and Gideon followed the others through the ominous doorway.

[Narrator]

In the much larger room, there wasn't very much, save for a chair in the middle of the area.

and seated upon it was apparently a figure covered in a set of powered armor that resembled a Millitary uniform constructed of metal, complete with pips and ribbons, even a few medals.

"You kids... I've got to give it to you. they train you pretty damn well at your school. When I eventually get to conquering your planet, I'll be sure to take it into account."

[Will Stanton]

"And who might you be."

[Nick Varkan]

"I was wrong. He's the Tin Man," Nick said in a quiet aside.

[Narrator]

"And who might you be."

"But, they apparently don't teach you smarts. Who the hell do you think I am, Son? Captain America?"

[Daniel Uriel]

"I always figured that Tony Stark would be taller," Daniel said dryly.

[The General]

"Ha Ha Ha. tony Stark's clone had the same smirk on his face. right before I turned him to vapor. but since I have a break in my schedule, I figured, why not give you lot a sporting chance, rather then keep throwing wave upon wave of good soldiers at you lot."

with a series of mechanical clicks, he then removed his helmet, revealing a glowing blue skull, crackling with energy.

"Now, which of you kids has the guts to think you can put me down with your abilities turned back on?"
