There Goes the Neighborhood

Postby Narrator » Sun Nov 27, 2011 8:10 pm

The building shook a few times while Renko and company traced the power conduits to the room with the portal equipment. The place was taking a beating, some of its systems failing without Hellsmith to hold them together.

In the center of the room was a large archway, surrounded by regulatory systems.

Renko went about trying to reinforce the room as he walked towards the portal.

"This room can't take much more," Renko said as he examined the archway and the regulatory systems to make sure they would still work.

There was damage, some capacitors burned out, some conduits overloaded. Nothing he couldn't reverse, however.

Renko went about fixing the equipment gauntlets glowing softly as he did so.

"I hope the others are alright," Renko said as he he finished up his work before heading towards the console.

The console's records were at least intact. It had a tracking unit in it, which for months had been triangulating an event that had caused Balor's disappearance. They'd at least managed to get it locked down enough that it consistently opened to a particular universe.

"Well, bloody hell at least they kept records," Renko said as he tried to figure out if he could get it narrowed down to a particular planet inside the universe. After all nobody wants to be spat out into the void, right?

According to the research notes, they believed they could narrow down the spatial range, though there was a risk of that radicalizing the temporal range.

Renko went about figuring out how badly the radicalization would be after all a few days wasn't too bad, but years or decades were a bit too much.

"Maybe a test run with the highest degree of accuracy," Renko said, "Might be able to stabilize the temporal effects myself."

Right up until I actually step into the portal...

"Do I want to know what that means or should I just hope it works right?" Sara asks, arms and legs fused into the floor and walls in a fashion that probably looks a bit too much like Hellsmith did. But then again, she was fulfilling the same role right now, at least for this room.

"Probably not and yes," Renko smiled as he increased the accuracy to make sure they arrived in Europe and started calculating exactly how much temporal flux he would be correcting for.

After doubling back to Hellsmith's lair, John followed the conduits and led the group to the lab.

"I hope you have this thing ready Renko."

"Calculations are done, damage repaired, all systems are go," Renko said turning the portal on. Once it had turned on Renko's gauntlets began to glow.

"Give me a couple seconds to stabilize the temporal radicalization caused by increasing the accuracy of the portal. Say your goodbyes, so on, and so forth."

Paladin took a small strange looking spherical device from his pocket and began punching buttons on it as the X-Men prepared to head through the portal.

There was a clicking on the floor, as Bear arrived, her satchel noticeably heavier then before she arrived in the dimension.

"Fire it up, captain!"

It was, however, enough of an answer for Daniel, who seemed to relax at that statement.
